The house

Villa Romsdalen was built in 1940 and carefully renovated to its original
splendor in 2023, with modern and comfortable solutions.

History

After the bombing of Åndalsnes in 1940, Villa Romsdalen was the first house to rise from the ashes. The villa is a prominent example of reconstruction architecture and was designed by architect Helge B. Thams for local factory owner Oscar Kolflåth. The director's residence was built to the highest standards of the time, in brick from the local brickworks at Åndalsnes and with large, colorful leaded windows. The historic walls have now been given new life, filled with the best from skilled local suppliers.

Martin Sebastian Bruseth and Hanne Karin Høgset bought the property in 2023 with their three children. A year later, the characteristic villa was fully renovated and now stands proudly in the heart of Åndalsnes.
